On Saturday, July 19, 2008,
the Bitterroot Valley Ragtime Society is honored to host
ragtime pianist Larisa Migachyov. This will be
Larisa's debut performance. Yes, her very first solo
concert and the BVRS is delighted that Larisa has chosen
us for her first ever solo concert!
Larisa Migachyov was born in Russia and started piano
lessons at the age of 5. Despite having played classical
piano for most of her conscious existence, she discovered
ragtime only about 3 years ago, when she saw a flyer in a
supermarket advertising the San Antonio Ragtime Society.
In 2006, she first attended the Scott Joplin Festival in
Sedalia, MO, and premiered her first composition, the
Purple Chicken Rag. Since then, she has also performed at
the Eau Claire Ragtime Festival, the San Antonio Ragtime
Festival (which she also helped organize), and the Lake
Superior Ragtime Festival. Her first CD, "A Heap of
Rags", came out in 2007.
Larisa's compositions and
recordings are available at her website,
www.larisamigachyov.com.

On June 27, 2007, we fondly recall that Virginia Tichenor
and Marty Eggers wowed the local audience for the 2nd
Bitterroot Valley Ragtime Society-hosted concert held at
the Corvallis UM Church. We’re very excited to announce
that Tichenor and Eggers will return to Montana in the
fall of 2008 for another performance in the Bitterroot
Valley before they head up to Kalispell for the Glacier
Stampede, the annual jazz fest held in Kalispell the first
weekend of October.
We’ll look forward to another
exiting 2-piano extravaganza, along with Marty on stand-up
bass (maybe he’ll have his tuba with him as well!),
Virginia doing some drumming and as always, an exciting
selection of classic ragtime, folk rags and early jazz
combined with some blues tunes.
